Solubility: Freely soluble in water; Practically insoluble in hydrocarbons; Sparingly soluble in lower alcohol. Seldom insoluble in organic solvents. Stable in acidic and neutral substances. It easily hydrolyses in alkaline substances and degrades under strong light irritation. It can be inactivated by inert slit loam and negative surfactivity. Direct metal contact should be avoided because of its corrosiveness. Paraquat dichloride (42-50% a. i.)appears dark brown.
